BOYS ON FILM
BOYS ON FILM is an analog archive that documents and celebrates the Drag King scene in Berlin and other parts of the world. Originally created by O. Baldwin in 2019 and in the present run by Hugo Pérez since 2022, the project is developed by members of the queer migrant community themselves. The photographer is not an outside observer but an active participant in the movement.
In this project, the photographer selects a collection of images to showcase the diversity of the Drag King community and to bring queer imaginaries into the daily lives of people from and beyond the queer community, sharing creativity, freedom and empowerment. BOYS ON FILM challenges invisibility, resists stereotypes, and redefines how queer lifes are represented and remembered.
BOYS ON FILM has 8 printed publications and has made different exhibitions in the city of Berlin.
BOYS ON FILM es un archivo analógico que documenta y celebra la escena Drag King en Berlin y otros lugares del mundo. Fue creado originalmente por O. Baldwin en 2019 y desde 2022 está bajo la dirección de Hugo Pérez. Este proyecto es realizado por miembros de la propia comunidad queer migrante: el fotógrafo no es un mero observador sino una parte activa del movimiento.
En este projecto, el autor presenta una colección de imágenes que refleja la diversidad de la comunidad Drag King. El objetivo es acercar los imaginarios queer a la vida cotidiana de personas tanto dentro como fuera de la comunidad, compartiendo así creatividad, libertad y empoderamiento. BOYS ON FILM desafía la invisibilidad, resiste los estereotipos y redefine cómo se representan y recuerdan las vidas queer.
